What books are you reading right now?

I thought I would take this opportunity to thank those of you who have downloaded the game and have (hopefully) tried it out for themselves!

I wanted to make this kinda a blog post and also see what books everyone is reading. Also, if you are currently a player of NOUN NOUN SHOWDOWN, what books have you tried it with?

I just finished reading the RPG manual for ATTACK FROM SPACE by Deeply Dapper Games. The version I picked up was from my local Half Price Books and was the deluxe hardback edition. It had that Mork Borg artbook feel to the RPG, and the game seemed very light as far as gameplay. Since I mostly play by myself (it is hard to find people my age to play these types of games with), I will have to utilize solo rpg style rules to it. In this instance, it might be a combination of journaling my gameplay as well as playing it.

I also grabbed a book I haven't seen for quite some time, and that book was Steve Jackson Games KILLER: THE GAME OF ASSASSINATION. This was a time in my life in high school where we played this in the hallways between classes and at the end of the school day. I was not going to pick it up, but as my wife and I were flipping through the pages, I piece of receipt tape was in the book with the words "You have just been killed by poison." Again, I was not intending to pick it up, but my wife insisted that it must be fate that placed that particular situation into play and that I must buy my killer's poisonous filled book.

Outside of books I have picked up recently, I am in the middle of the classic Philip K. Dick novel Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep. It has such a 50s vibe to it that I do find myself imagining the old B-movies done by Roger Corman or movies like Fantastic Voyage or This Island Earth (honestly one of my favorites). And yes. I am aware the book was written during the 50s, but if you have not read it yet, it is a short read (less than 200 pages) and worth every page. In fact, the book was one of the books I used to create NOUN NOUN SHOWDOWN.

Feel free to leave in the comments your favorite books and also, if you have used NNS, what books did you try it with? How successful were you in fighting off the nouns on the pages?

Have a great rest of the week!
