Things you learn along the way...
When I first started this journey, I wanted to make games that bored people could play.
I was bored. At my age, finding people to game with is daunting at times and can be frustrating -- even depressing.
This was what Mock Ravage Games was all about. I wanted to make games that lonely people could play and enjoy a quick adventure, or maybe experience something that they have never played before.
I wanted MORE DAMN KITTIES to be the game that would be simple and cure my boredom, but I was wrong. I neglected playtesting, going off of guess-timations and hope that the game would just work, but it didn't. At least, not right now.
I have spent the last month deep diving into the internet to find the tools, references, and resources to make MDK a bigger and better game. Game engines that I am looking at for the future are LUMEN, PbtA (Powered by the Apocalypse), and Wretched and Alone. I have also discovered the Complete Kobold's Guide to Game Design, which is a fascinating book and I highly recommend that anyone who is looking to break into game design to buy it. It has several essays from some of the largest names in the field who have worked on D&D and everything beyond.
I hope you choose to stick with me on this journey. At the moment I am working on several concepts and going through the playtesting process so that I don't make the same mistake that I made with More Damn Kitties.
Thanks for your support!
